My European exploits have not gone unnoticed

I am mentioned in this article as the tiny Australian woman.

Excerpt:
Inside, I was in roughly the same spot as the night before, perhaps more directly in front of Stone in the second “row,” a pair of Americans and the tiny Australian woman who’d bravely organized the ad-hoc Berlin 10C line-up directly in front of me. They’d slept out and were exhausted but determined to enjoy, I was feeling ok, but wary of the crowd which was pushy even during X (which again featured a duet on “Devil Doll” from Ed.)

How to get over PPJTD (Post Pearl Jam Tour Depression)? Go to Sicily.

Image

Flying over Switzerland, en route to Palermo (Sicily) from Copenhagen.

Balestrate, Sicily.

I arrived in Palermo from Copenhagen, where I had been wearing two jackets and long pants. (Yes, I truly am a northern Australian and feel the cold too easily.)
I was definitely the fairest skinned of all the people at the beach the day I went to Balestrate, covering myself constantly in sunscreen, to the amusement of all the local Sicilians.

Again, laughter was had at my expense as I was the only one moving my “sun” lounge under the umbrellas to get away from the sun, unlike everyone else who was putting theirs’ in the sun.

This lovely local showed me through his hardware shop. From what has been explained to me, there is no federal government in Sicily to fix old buildings or streets etc. Therefore, as a community you need to work to keep everything functioning.

I was taken for a drive through “The Zen”, which is the equivalent of housing commission estate (Australian) or the ghetto, I suppose.

Tastiest ice cream ever!

More tasty food.

The running joke at the moment, is that I have to pay per pound of weight I put on while in Palermo.
They keep feeding me the most amazing food and it is hard to stop eating.

Palermo, Sicily has been both amazing and a complete culture shock, it is unlike any other place I know.
